Fue realmente maravilloso ver el entusiasmo que existía entre ellos mientras ejecutaban.&lt;br /&gt;Ese goce individual en las improvisaciones, el entusiasmo de conjunto al ejecutar un acorde, en fin, algo que nunca había notado hasta ahora con los músicos y la música de tango.&lt;br /&gt;Como resultado de esta experiencia nació en mi la idea de formar el OCTETO DE BUENOS AIRES. Era necesario sacar al tango de esa monotonía que lo envolvía, tanto armónica como melódica, rítmica y estética. Fue un impulso irresistible el de jerarquizarlo musicalmente y darle otra forma de lucimiento a los instrumentistas. En dos palabras, lograr que entusiasme y no canse al ejecutante ni al oyente, sin que deje de ser tango y que sea mas que nunca, música.&lt;br /&gt;Nace en 1955 el Octeto, elige entre los mejores instrumentistas de este género: Enrique Mario Francini (violín), Atilio Stampone (piano), Roberto Pansera, hoy reemplazado por Leopoldo Federico (bandoneón), Hugo Baralis (violín), Horacio Malvicino (guitarra), José Bragato (violoncello), Aldo Nicollini, hoy reemplazado por Juan Vasallo en contrabajo, y yo, en bandoneón.&lt;br /&gt;El primer arreglo que hice para este conjunto fue "Arrabal". Para entonces nos parecía sumamente avanzado, hoy, a despecho de sus novedosas&lt;br /&gt;concepciones, "Arrabal" nos parece antiguo, es lógico. Realizar el difícil equilibrio del Octeto, llevó dos años, y aun queda mucho por descubrir. En&lt;br /&gt;cada arreglo se aprende algo mas sobre esta formación orquestal.&lt;br /&gt;Tengamos en cuenta que existe un desequilibrio tremendo por falta de cuerdas, ya que para dos bandoneones, piano, guitarra y bajo, se necesitarían&lt;br /&gt;por lo menos seis violines y cello, pero ajustándome a los dos violines y cello, es necesario escribirle a éstos en tesituras no acostumbradas. Por&lt;br /&gt;ejemplo, cuando incluyo efectos rítmicos y quiero lograr fuertes sonoridades, empleo los dos violines casi siempre en la tesitura grave, y el cello, la&lt;br /&gt;mayoría de las veces dentro de la misma tesitura que los violines, sobre todo en los unísonos. (Neotango, El Marne, Arrabal).&lt;br /&gt;Para efectos suaves y melódicos empleo las tesituras normales (Anoné). Las doble cuerdas son utilizadas para mayor sonoridad armónica (dos violines,&lt;br /&gt;cello, y bajo en la segunda parte de Marrón y Azul). También el contrapunto entre las cuerdas, da mayor belleza a los temas originales ("Arrabal", solo&lt;br /&gt;de violín). Para los efectos de percusión también intervienen las cuerdas: el primer violín imita al tambor, el segundo la lija, el cello la caja, y el bajo&lt;br /&gt;golpeado con la palma de la mano detrás del instrumento logra el efecto del bombo (Marrón y Azul).&lt;br /&gt;Los dos bandoneones realizan la labor de cuatro y cinco. Casi siempre están ejecutando acordes de cuatro y cinco y hasta seis sonidos cada uno (El&lt;br /&gt;Marne). También variaciones sobre los temas en quintillos, seisillos y hasta sietecillos de fusas hoy en desuso por su dificultad técnica (Anoné).&lt;br /&gt;Un ejemplo de la maravillosa sonoridad de los bandoneones acompañados por bajo, lo tenemos en "Anoné" y "El Marne". La guitarra eléctrica es un&lt;br /&gt;instrumento novedoso dentro del tango, ofrece un timbre no acostumbrado en este tipo de orquesta. Notaran Uds. la fuerza sonora de este&lt;br /&gt;instrumento cuando ejecuta acordes y en los unísonos con los bandoneones, violines y cello (Neotango y Tangology). También lo empleo para&lt;br /&gt;imitación del bongó (Anoné y Marrón y Azul). Lo mas destacable en este instrumento e instrumentista son las improvisaciones sobre los temas&lt;br /&gt;originales, hecho por primera vez en conjuntos de tango.&lt;br /&gt;El piano y el bajo son los instrumentos acompañantes: la fuerza rítmica del Octeto. Los solos de piano, de muy difícil ejecución, son de una nueva&lt;br /&gt;concepción rítmica y armónica para el tango. La primera parte (Romántica) comienza con acores de cuartas&lt;br /&gt;yuxtapuestas. Segunda parte solo de piano por Atilio Stampone; se repite la primera parte en otra tonalidad con un solo de Hugo Baralis, seguido por&lt;br /&gt;otro solo a cargo de Enrique Mario Francini. En esta parte, mezcla de vals y tango, quise reflejar en el arreglo, a su autor, como el argentino radicado&lt;br /&gt;en Paris. En forma paralela esas dos formaciones se denominarían: &lt;b&gt;Orquesta de Cuerdas&lt;/b&gt; y &lt;b&gt;Octeto Buenos Aires&lt;/b&gt;. Ocho de esas fueron lanzadas en formato LP con el título &lt;b&gt;Sinfonia de Tango&lt;/b&gt;, y las restantes 8 piezas se editaron en 2 EP's de cuatro canciones cada uno. El título de los EP's fue &lt;b&gt;Su bandoneon y su orquesta de cuerdas&lt;/b&gt;, cada uno con su propia carátula frontal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;Piazzolla (Astor) - bandoneon and arrangements&lt;br /&gt;Solal (Martial) - piano&lt;br /&gt;Orchestra of L'Opera de Paris&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This edition covers roughly the 1954-1956 period in which Piazzolla lived in Paris as a student of composition under Nadia Boulanger. This is the period in which classical influences started to strongly flavor his music. He begins experimenting with string arrangements and makes a series of records while in Paris.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;En 1953 Astor presenta la obra Buenos Aires     (Tres movimientos Sinfónicos) - compuesta en 1951- en el concurso Fabien Sevitzky.     Piazzolla gana el primer premio y la obra es interpretada en la Facultad de Derecho de     Buenos Aires por la Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio del Estado con el agregado de dos     bandoneones y bajo la dirección del propio Sevitzky. Estalla el escándalo, por las     peleas a trompadas que se desencadenaron al finalizar el concierto, debido a la     indignación que provocó en cierto sector "culto" del público, la     incorporación de dos bandoneones a una orquesta sinfónica.&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;     &lt;p class="MsoNormal" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;Uno de los premios que ganó en este     concurso, fué una beca otorgada por el gobierno francés para estudiar en París (adonde     viaja en 1954),&lt;span style=""&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;con Nadia Boulanger,     considerada en aquellos tiempos como la mejor pedagoga  que había en el mundo de la     música. Al principio, Piazzolla trata de ocultar su pasado tanguero y de intérprete de     bandoneón creyendo que su destino estaba en la música clásica. Este punto de conflicto     queda resuelto después de sincerarse ante Boulanger y de interpretar para ella su tango     Triunfal. De allí surge una recomendación histórica: "Astor, sus obras eruditas     están bien escritas pero aquí está el verdadero Piazzolla, no lo abandone nunca".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;Después de este episodio Piazzolla     retorna al tango y a su instrumento, el bandoneón. Lo que antes era la música erudita o     el tango, ahora ha de ser la música erudita y el tango, pero del modo más eficaz: tratar     los recursos de la música erudita con la sangre del tango.
